Shawn’s innate desire to help those in need reached thousands. From taking an extra
minute to talk to someone while working as a police officer in Lino Lakes; to serving
two years in the Peace Corps and assisting with the planning and construction of
a water system for a mountain village, or helping a friend sheetrock his basement,
Shawn kept his eyes out for others, and his hands at work to help them.
On Sunday evening, September 10, 2006, all are welcome as we honor Shawn through
an evening dedicated to helping those in need. Five charities have been selected,
each representing an area of Shawn’s life.
The "Be Here Now" Celebration net proceeds will benefit Minnesota COPS along with
five charities uniquely representing Officer Silvera's passion and commitment to
faith, family, youth, global concerns and career. The charities include the Honduras
Water Project, Catholic Charities, Free Arts for Abused Children Minnesota, Marriage
Encounter, The Minnesota Law Enforcement Explorer Association.
This event is sponsored by Minnesota
COPS (Concerns Of Police Survivors).
Please join us along with Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty and Trish Van Pilsum of
Fox 9 News at the Minneapolis Hilton for this unique event which will include dinner,
a program and a silent auction. All net proceeds (100%) from the evening will benefit
these charitable organizations.

We welcome organizations and/or individuals who are interested in donating to the
event, either through a cash gift, a silent auction item, purchasing an advertisement
in the program, or sponsoring a table on behalf of your organization. If you are
